Flight Sim Mode

While a model is running you can make changes to model parameters and graphicals. As you make those changes the trajectory of the model will change. As a simple example, suppose you are controlling speed and graphing position. As you increase speed, the slope on the position graph will increase.

Note that with Stella Live™ any changes made to parameters will hold throughout the simulation.

Model

In the model window, the model always runs in Flight Sim Mode. You can make changes by spinning knobs, typing a value in the Results Panel, or adding and editing the value in the Parameter Control Panel . When the model is running, the changes will take effect immediately with the simulation continuing with the new values.

Note If the model has finished running, making these change will start another Stella Live run.

Interface

On the interface, you can choose whether making a change to an input should immediately take effect on the continuing simulation or cause the model to pause anytime a change is made. To do this open up the Interface Settings Properties Panel and select between:

Flight Simulation means all changes will take effect as soon as they are entered (in the case of text input you will need to press enter or click away from the box you type the number into). In Normal mode, making a change will cause the model to pause. The use will then need to explicitly resume the situation.

The one exception to this behavior is the graphical input device. If you click on a graphical input device the model will pause while you are adjusting the graphical (see Graphical input (Interface) for details) and then resume when you close the dialog (by clicking on OK or Cancel). If you want to have a graphical input that responds like sliders and other controls you can do so using Sketchables

On the interface you also have the option to have draggable controls (Sliders, Knobs, Pie Inputs and Sketchables) respond either during the drag, or only after the mouse button is release. This is also done on the Interface Settings Properties Panel by using the

Keep this checked to have the changes made as the control is adjusted.
